Mikey Garcia VS Robert Easter Jr.

Saturday, July 28th, in the main event of a Showtime televised card from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, the highly anticipated match between Mikey Garcia and Robert Easter Jr. will take place.
The Moreno Valley local, Mikey Garcia, has a record of 38-0, with 30 of those wins by knockout. Garcia recently fought at 140 in his last two fights against Adrien Broner and Sergey Lipinets. Garcia will be dropping down in weight to fight Easter at 135.
In the past, Floyd Mayweather has urged to see explosive match ups with Mikey Garcia, such as Vasyl Lomachenko (11-0, 1). Mayweather told Fighthype.com, “If Lomachenko is what they say he is, I think they should make him and Mikey Garcia- I mean, that’s just my honest opinion… great fighters always move up. We call that legendary…”.
Mikey Garcia and Robert Easter held the kick-off press conference for their upcoming title unification, BP Media was at the scene where Mikey Garcia claimed, "This is the first time that I get to meet him really...we are going to fight so, inside the ring there are no friends. I can't even consider him a friend.". Although Garcia claims they are not friends, he ensured fans that, "There is no animosity."
In terms of how urgent this match up was to Garcia, he claims, "It's the most fight that makes sense right now, based on availability of opponents." Garcia told BP Media what he aims for in terms of fights in the near future. "I want title fights, I want champions."
Robert Easter Jr. has a current record of 21-0 with 14 knockouts. He has successfully defended his IBF 135-pound title against Luis Cruz, Denis Shafikov, and Javier Fortuna starting after Richard Commey.
Although Easter has a 5-inch height and an 8-inch reach advantage over Garcia, Garcia is favored to win.
Easter told Boxingscene.com, “This is a fight that’s going to bring the best skills out of me. You got two boxers who can box, so it’s sort of gonna be a chess match. Two of the best in the weight class are coming to clash on July 28th, and this is going to bring the best out of me and people are really going to see who the real Robert Easter Jr. is.”
“This fight is going to really show my true boxing skills and why a lot of fighters have been ducking me. After I win this fight, it’s going to take me to superstar status. It’s going to put me where I need to be and let everyone recognize who I really am.”
